    Description

    Key Responsibilities and Duties

    • Uphold the company’s top priorities: Safety (1) and Service (2) in all decisions and actions.

    • Serve as the primary backup to the Booster/Balloons Manager.

    • Be on-call 24/7, available by phone and on-site as needed, including overtime.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with team leaders and act as a trusted listener for employees.

    • Manage inventory and ordering materials and products.

    • Assist in creating, coordinating, and communicating the production schedule.

    • Support tracking and reporting of production efficiencies.

    • Complete Management of Change (MOC) documentation and temporary work instructions.

    • Develop expertise in plant operations, systems, and products.

    • Troubleshoot operational issues and contribute to effective solutions with strong attention to detail.

    • Support the manager in executing company policies and initiatives.

    • Promote clear, consistent communication and be open to feedback.

    • Take a hands-on approach to problem-solving and team engagement.

    • Provide support during employee training and when challenges arise.

    • Attend management meetings as a delegate when assigned.

    • Use multiple communication methods to engage with employees. Demonstrate frequent coaching and mentoring across the team.

    Education and Experience

    • 18+ years of age

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D

    • Ability to read and maintain proper documentation

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work in various environmental conditions (hot/cold, wet floors, loud environments)

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs regularly and stand/walk up to 10 hours per day

    • High manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude

    • Ability to work at heights or elevated surfaces for short periods

    • Availability to work various shifts and overtime on short notice

    • Ability to work independently and lead a team effectively

    • Flexibility to assist with additional duties as directed by the manager.

    Skills, Knowledge, and Requirements

    • 1+ years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment

    • 1+ years of experience in explosive or chemical manufacturing

    • Mechanically inclined with troubleshooting experience

    In 1833, America was emerging as a vibrant, growing country with virtually boundless energy and a manifest destiny. The Erie Canal, in operation for eight years, had cut travel time from New York westward to Buffalo by one-third for both people and cargo. The Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, America's first passenger train, was opening up the western reserve.

    Part of the westward migration involved, literally, moving mountains. Austin Powder was founded in that same year to produce the black powder that would help break the rocks, mine the coal and build the canals. From the banks of the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, Ohio, we grew as the country grew.

    We have been in business for over 180 years. Today, we manufacture a full line of industrial explosives and accessories, and provide blasting services to customers throughout North America and around the world.
