POSITION SUMMARY


AKVM Construction Group is seeking a full-time Bookkeeper to manage daily accounting and administrative operations for a growing construction organization. This is an intermediate, hands-on position working directly with executive management, a fractional CFO company, and an outside accounting firm. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, detail-oriented, and experienced in bookkeeping, office administration, and preferably construction job-cost accounting.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, vendor payments, collections, and customer account reconciliation.
Maintain daily bank and credit-card transactions, deposits, transfers, and monthly account reconciliations.
Coordinate payroll processing and maintain related accounting entries and documentation.
Maintain the general ledger, prepare routine journal entries, and organize supporting financial documentation.
Maintain construction job-cost reporting, including project revenue, labor, materials, subcontractors, change orders, deposits, retainage, and project profitability.
Support month-end and year-end close processes and prepare P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, AP/AR aging, and budget-to-actual reports.
Work with the fractional CFO and accounting firm to improve accounting procedures, internal controls, reporting, and year-end/tax preparation.
Handle front-desk responsibilities, including greeting visitors, answering a multi-line phone system, and professionally directing calls and inquiries.
Assist with general office administration, organization, filing, correspondence, and other administrative duties as needed.
Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accurate and timely financial and administrative records.

QUALIFICATIONS


3-5 years of progressive bookkeeping or accounting experience preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
QuickBooks experience is required.
Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and general productivity software.
Working knowledge of GAAP, payroll, AP/AR, general-ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Construction accounting and job-costing experience strongly preferred.
Strong time-management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently.
Professional communication and phone etiquette with strong attention to detail and confidentiality.
Bilingual is preferred.
