    Summary

    An auto dealership body shop manager oversees all collision repair operations, manages staff, handles insurance and customer relations, and drives departmental profitability and safety compliance.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Operations & Workflow Management: Oversee daily shop operations, schedule repair jobs, monitor workflow, and ensure timely vehicle delivery.
    • Estimating & Insurance Coordination: Write accurate repair estimates and build strong working relationships with insurance adjusters to negotiate claims and supplemental work.
    • Staff Supervision & Training: Hire, train, motivate, and supervise technicians, painters, and front-office personnel, fostering technical growth and adherence to OEM repair procedures.
    • Quality Control & Safety: Conduct final and in-process inspections to verify structural safety and paint perfection, while ensuring strict compliance with OSHA and hazardous waste disposal regulations.
    • Financial & Budget Administration: Set and manage departmental operating budgets, track productivity, monitor parts consumption, and control accounts receivable to maximize profitability.
    • Customer Service: Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly according to dealership guidelines to foster repeat and referral business.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • Experience: Several years of hands-on collision repair experience combined with prior supervisory or estimating background.
    • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of structural/non-structural repair, refinishing technology, and access to OEM repair databases (like Alldata).
    • Certifications: Industry credentials such as I-CAR Professional Development Program designations or ASE collision certifications are strongly preferred. CCC1 estimating software. CDK experience.
    • Soft Skills: Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution abilities.
