Vaccinate Your Family (VYF) has been protecting people of all ages from vaccine-preventable diseases for over 30 years. Voting Member, Board of Directors – Unpaid, Volunteer Position

Members of the VYF Board of Directors provide strategic oversight, governance, fiduciary stewardship, and leadership to advance the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.

This position is fully remote.

For this Board position, VYF is particularly seeking an accomplished business leader who can bring significant business expertise, strategic insight, and an objective perspective to the Board and organization as a whole. The ideal candidate will leverage their professional experience to help inform and shape organizational strategy, strengthen business operations and sustainability, and support VYF’s continued growth and impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support and commit to upholding the mission, vision, and core values of VYF
• Attend and actively participate in quarterly virtual meetings of the Board of Directors
• Participate on relevant committees and support ad hoc initiatives
• Participate in the development/refinement of the organization’s strategic plan
• Apply business expertise and strategic perspectives towards organizational opportunities and challenges
• Provide insight on areas such as organizational growth, financial sustainability, operations, leadership, risk management, and/or business strategy
• Support fundraising, partnership development, and organizational sustainability efforts
• Serve as an ambassador for VYF and leverage professional networks, expertise, and connections when appropriate

QUALIFICATIONS

• Significant senior-level leadership and business experience, such as executive leadership, entrepreneurship, corporate strategy, finance, operations, organizational growth, or related areas
• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic guidance and apply business expertise to complex organizational decisions
• Experience serving on a Board of Directors or working closely with executive leadership and governance bodies preferred
• Strong financial, operational, and/or strategic acumen
• Ability to bring a broad, business-oriented perspective that complements VYF’s public health and nonprofit expertise
• Strong collaboration, communication, and leadership skills
• Commitment to VYF’s mission and an interest in supporting public health and immunization efforts

BOARD EXPECTATIONS & TIME COMMITMENT

Board members are expected to be engaged and active participants in VYF’s governance and strategic direction. Expectations include:

• Attend and actively participate in quarterly virtual Board meetings
• Serve on at least one Board committee and participate in associated meetings and activities
• Review Board materials in advance and come prepared to contribute to discussions and decision-making
• Participate in ad hoc meetings, strategic planning sessions, or other Board activities as needed
• Provide subject matter expertise, guidance, and professional perspective between meetings when appropriate
• Support VYF’s fundraising, partnership, and ambassador efforts through professional networks and connections when appropriate
• Maintain confidentiality and fulfill the fiduciary and governance responsibilities associated with Board service
• Make a personal annual financial contribution to Vaccinate Your Family at a level that is meaningful and comfortable for the individual Board member; no minimum contribution amount is required

The overall time commitment will vary throughout the year based on committee involvement and organizational needs, but VYF strives to be respectful of Board members’ professional and personal commitments.

Board service with VYF is a voluntary, unpaid position and reflects a commitment to advancing the organization’s mission and long-term success.
