Position Summary:The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides and supervises the delivery of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to patients exhibiting challenging behaviors within an inpatient hospital setting. Responsibilities include functional behavior assessments; development, implementation, and evaluation of behavior interventions; monitoring the effectiveness of behavioral assessments and interventions; providing consultation to multidisciplinary treatment teams, families, and other UTHealth programs; and delivering staff training. The BCBA demonstrates proficiency in ABA principles and techniques, including shaping, prompting, fading, chaining, etc. Documents data-based patient progress and clinical contacts as necessary.Position Key Accountabilities:Develops, implements, and documents Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) interventions in an inpatient hospital-based setting.Conducts functional behavior assessments, preference and reinforcer assessments, and other behavioral assessments as needed for assigned patients.Collects and documents data on identified target and replacement behaviors; summarizes and graphs behavioral data at least weekly to monitor patient progress and support behavior intervention planning.Implements habilitation programs and behavior intervention programs.Conducts training with multidisciplinary treatment team staff and/or patient caregivers.Supervise and train BCBA-interns as needed.Responds to crisis situations.Participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings by preparing and presenting behavioral data, reviewing patient progress, and contributing to treatment planning for habilitation and behavior reduction goals.Performs other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills: Well-developed interpersonal and professional problem-solving skills, a working knowledge of mental retardation services and/or autism, and advanced knowledge of applied behavior analysis. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of all work-related matters and ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of the agency. Skill in basic mathematical functions and the use of the internet for research purposes. Adapts to changing work requirements. Flexible to meet ongoing needs. Meets all required education and training in accordance with applicable standards. Maintains professional behavior and provides excellent customer service to both staff and patients. This position may require flexible hours and travel to other UTHealth Houston locations. Work may involve handling biohazardous, chemical, and radiological materials, as well as operating associated equipment. Required safety training and appropriate engineering and administrative controls including the use of personal protective equipment must be followed. Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) by Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) required Licensed as a Behavioral Analyst in the State of Texas requiredMinimum Education:Master''s Degree in Behavior Analysis or in Psychology with coursework as required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board requiredMinimum Experience:3 years of experience in conducting functional analyses, developing behavior intervention plans based on the functional analysis, and environmental assessment required 3 years of experience of basic ABA techniques to include differential reinforcement, shaping, prompting, prompt fading, reinforcer preference assessment, discrete trial training and natural environment training requiredPhysical Requirements:Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.Security Sensitive:This position is a security-sensitive position pursuant to Texas Education Code §51.215 and Texas Government Code §411.094.
