    Job TitleEquine Therapy Technician / Barn Assistant
    Position SummaryYou will help therapy sessions run safely and smoothly. You will also clean horse stalls, feed animals, and handle basic cleaning duties around the facility.
    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
    Equine Therapy Support
    • Side-walk and lead therapy horses during sessions.
    • Groom, tack, and prepare horses before therapy classes.
    • Observe horse behavior to keep clients, therapists, and animals safe.
    • Assist therapists with setting up and putting away equipment (ramps, mounting blocks, toys).
    Stall Cleaning and Barn Chores
    • Muck stalls daily and add fresh bedding.
    • Clean and fill water troughs and buckets.
    • Feed and turn out horses according to the daily schedule.
    • Maintain pastures by removing manure and checking fences.
    Custodial and Facility Maintenance
    • Sweep and tidy the barn aisle, tack room, and viewing areas.
    • Clean restrooms and common areas used by clients and staff.
    • Empty trash cans and dispose of waste properly.
    • Store feed, hay, and supplies in a neat and safe manner.
    Qualifications and Skills
    • Experience with horses and basic handling safety.
    • Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds) like hay bales and bags of feed.
    • Physical stamina to stand, walk, and do hard manual labor for long hours.
    • Reliable and punctual work habits.
    • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
    Working Conditions
    • Work happens mostly outdoors and in unheated/uncooled barns in all types of weather.
    •  High physical activity, including bending, lifting, and walking in soft or uneven footing.
    •  Exposure to dust, hay, animal hair, and cleaning chemicals.
