Job Description:

  • We are seeking a motivated, hands-on individual to support a high-throughput entomology testing platform that combines biological laboratory work with automation and technology-enabled workflows.
  • This role is well suited for someone with a foundational understanding of biology who is excited to work in a modern research environment and comfortable using, troubleshooting, and learning automated laboratory equipment and processes.
  • Extensive entomology expertise is not required. We are particularly interested in candidates who are curious, technically inclined, adaptable, and interested in learning how automation can improve the consistency, efficiency, and scale of biological testing.
  • The successful candidate will work alongside scientists and technical team members to execute routine biological assays and support automated and semi-automated laboratory workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Support automated and high-throughput insect bioassay workflows, including preparation, setup, execution, scoring, and data capture.
  • Operate laboratory automation and equipment following established procedures, with a willingness to learn new technologies and workflows.
  • Prepare solutions, media, and artificial diets used in insect bioassays.
  • Set up, maintain, and score insect bioassays accurately and consistently.
  • Care for plants in controlled-environment growth chambers and/or greenhouse settings.
  • Perform accurate data entry and maintain experimental records.
  • Assist with routine equipment operation, cleaning, basic troubleshooting, and upkeep.
  • Maintain organized laboratory and controlled-environment workspaces.
  • Identify workflow issues and work with the team to improve efficiency, repeatability, and reliability.
  • Collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary research environment.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, entomology, plant science, agricultural science, engineering technology, automation, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of biological principles and laboratory practices.
  • Comfort working with technology and automated equipment, or a strong willingness and aptitude to learn.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently follow standardized procedures.
  • Ability to learn new processes, equipment, and software.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a diverse team.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • One or more of the following would be beneficial, but is not required:
  • Experience working in a biological, agricultural, laboratory, greenhouse, or controlled-environment setting.
  • Exposure to laboratory automation, robotics, liquid handling, automated imaging, high-throughput screening, or other automated workflows.
  • Experience with insect bioassays, entomology, plant biology, or agricultural biotechnology.
  • Experience working with structured data collection or laboratory information systems.
  • Interest in troubleshooting equipment and improving laboratory processes.
What We're Looking For:
  • More than deep specialization in a particular biological discipline, we are looking for someone who:
  • Enjoys learning and working with technology
  • Is comfortable working hands-on with both biological materials and equipment
  • Can reliably execute repeatable processes
  • Notices when something does not look or operate correctly
  • Is curious about how automation can make laboratory workflows better
  • Can learn from scientists, automation specialists, and other team members
  • Thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving research environment

About Company

WE THE TEKWISSEN PEOPLE

TekWissen offers you a broader portfolio of services, industry-leading solutions, and the meaningful innovations that give you greater flexibility and speed to respond to market dynamics, reduced costs and risk to improve enterprise performance, and increased productivity to enable growth.

To keep pace with global market demands, TekWissen keeps its finger on the pulse of change. Our organized approach to guiding a project from its inception to closure. Managing projects is becoming more and more important as we enter the digital era. To cope with the pace that this transition demands, a method is required to manage projects so they can yield quality work, while incorporating efficient use of time and resources.

Project involves identifying which quality standards are relevant to the project and determining how to satisfy them.

It is important to perform quality planning during the Planning Process and should be done alongside the other project planning processes because changes in the quality will likely require changes in the other planning processes, or the desired product quality may require a detailed risk analysis of an identified problem. It is important to remember that quality should be planned, designed, then built in, not added on after the fact.

Capabilities and accomplishments in one TekWissen business enhance the opportunity for success in the others. Put simply, TekWissen's unique combination of attributes promotes success.
