ROLE SUMMARY:
The BIM/VDC Electrical Coordinator is responsible for developing accurate, constructable electrical BIM models and shop drawings that support field installation, project coordination, and fabrication. This role works closely with project management, field supervision, fabrication, and other trades to ensure electrical systems are effectively coordinated and modeled to a constructable state. The BIM/VDC Electrical Coordinator proactively identifies and resolves coordination and constructability issues, produces clear and readable shop drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs), and maintains accurate project models as designs and field conditions evolve. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, electrical and constructability knowledge, proficiency with BIM software, and the ability to communicate proactively and effectively across multiple project teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Design Standards - Works in conformity with company Electrical BIM Standards and detailing practices. Participates in improving the company's Electrical BIM Standards and detailing practices.
- Software Proficiency - Possesses working knowledge and ability to use software platforms required to produce accurate production-level drawings. Has proficiency or shows willingness and initiative to learn advanced BIM tools. Stays up to date on current and future software development to maintain proficiency.
- Detailing Proficiency - Develops electrical BIM models to a complete, constructable state in accordance with contract documents, project requirements, and company standards. Produces clear, accurate, readable, and constructible shop drawings suitable for field installation. Understands and complies with job-specific scope and requirements. Creates clean, usable working backgrounds and accurately incorporates design changes, field markups, and coordination updates into construction drawings and models. Reviews shop drawings and models for quality, accuracy, completeness, and constructability prior to distribution to the field. Verifies that all RFI's written are implemented into construction drawings. Produces accurate and complete Bills of Materials from the electrical BIM model and project documentation.
- Trade Coordination - Coordinates electrical systems with other trades to identify and resolve conflicts, constructability concerns, and coordination items. Works proactively within the BIM environment to develop practical solutions and maintain coordinated, installation-ready models. Collaborates with project teams to quickly address coordination issues and incorporate solutions into the model and shop drawings.
- Interdepartmental Communications - Communicates effectively with Project Managers, Project Supervision, the BIM/VDC Electrical Manager, fabrication personnel, and the electrical field team to determine detailing priorities, coordinate project requirements, and resolve issues. Participates in project coordination efforts and accurately incorporates changes and decisions into drawings and models.
- Communication Skills - Demonstrates strong, proactive communication skills and maintains open lines of communication with the BIM/VDC Electrical Manager and project teams. Identifies and communicates potential issues early, follows through on outstanding coordination items, and works collaboratively with others. Clearly communicates technical information, modeling considerations, and constructability concerns to both BIM and field personnel.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 years of work experience in commercial Electrical BIM/ VDC.
- Proficiency experience ratio minimum required 1 - 5, (1 = Novice 5 = Expert):

- A degree in design/drafting or equivalent work experience.
- Proficiency with software tools including AutoCAD, Revit, Fabrication CADMEP, Navisworks, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related 3D detailing software tools.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- The minimum requirements for the role are specified and are necessary to succeed in the role’s application of tasks.
- This position requires the ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee must be able to perform tasks involving physical labor, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying materials, tools, or equipment. Manual material handling must be performed in accordance with OSHA safety standards and company policies to minimize risk of injury.
