Building Information Modeling (BIM) Manager Location: Austin, Texas
Position Overview: Foster CM Group is seeking an experienced and visionary
BIM Manager to lead the digital design, delivery, and lifecycle data strategy for large-scale capital improvement, infrastructure, vertical construction, and facility development programs. In this senior leadership role, you will define enterprise-level BIM standards, align technology investments with organizational objectives, enforce data governance across multidisciplinary project teams, and drive lifecycle asset information management from planning and design through construction and operations.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Building Information Modeling (BIM), Virtual Design and Construction (VDC), digital project delivery, and Common Data Environment (CDE) administration. This role will oversee the implementation of innovative technologies, establish best practices, and ensure consistent model quality and data integrity across multiple projects and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Governance- Develop, implement, and enforce organizational BIM standards, digital asset delivery specifications, and BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) across multiple projects and programs.
- Serve as the primary digital delivery liaison between owners, project executives, design consultants, contractors, construction managers, and other stakeholders.
- Manage budgets, system architecture, software licensing, data security protocols, and user access within Common Data Environments (CDE), including Autodesk Construction Cloud (Client).
- Establish quality assurance and quality control processes, model audit procedures, and performance metrics to ensure project-wide compliance with established BIM standards.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that enhance project efficiency, collaboration, and lifecycle asset management.
BIM Management & Digital Project Delivery- Develop and oversee digital workflows that transform design and construction data into structured, operational asset information.
- Define, implement, and maintain metadata standards, asset information requirements, and COBie deliverables to support facility management and operations.
- Facilitate multidisciplinary model coordination and clash detection processes across architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and specialty systems.
- Lead implementation of BIM-GIS integration strategies when applicable to support asset tracking and infrastructure planning.
- Direct the development of The Client scheduling simulations, 5D cost integration models, and visual construction sequencing analyses.
- Monitor model health, data quality, version control, and information exchange requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support digital twin initiatives and long-term asset information management programs.
Team Leadership & Mentorship- Lead, mentor, and develop BIM Coordinators, BIM Specialists, Modelers, VDC professionals, and Digital Delivery staff.
- Guide software development and workflow automation initiatives utilizing tools such as Dynamo, Python, Forge API, and related technologies.
- Create and deliver training programs, best-practice workshops, and professional development initiatives to elevate organizational BIM capabilities.
- Promote innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement across project teams and departments.
- Provide technical leadership and strategic guidance on complex BIM implementation challenges.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, Information Technology, Virtual Design & Construction, or a related field.
- Minimum six (6) years of professional AEC industry experience, with at least four (4) years leading BIM implementation, digital delivery initiatives, or large-scale construction and infrastructure programs.
- Extensive knowledge of Autodesk software platforms, including Revit, Navisworks, Civil 3D, and Autodesk Construction Cloud (Client).
- Proven experience developing BIM standards, asset information management strategies, and lifecycle data handover processes.
- Demonstrated success managing COBie deliverables, data governance standards, and digital asset management frameworks.
- Strong understanding of multidisciplinary project delivery and construction coordination workflows.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Valid Driver License.
Preferred Qualifications- Master's degree in Building Information Modeling Management, Virtual Design & Construction (VDC), Construction Technology, Engineering Management, or a related discipline.
- Advanced knowledge of industry standards and open BIM methodologies, including ISO 19650 and related frameworks.
- Experience with GIS platforms, spatial databases, digital twin technologies, and enterprise asset management systems.
- Proficiency with business intelligence and analytics platforms such as Power BI.
- Experience with scripting, automation, and data-driven workflow development.
