Billing & Eligibility Specialist
Pay Rate: $21.00/hour
Location: Akron, OH (On-site)
Job Type: Full-Time, Contract
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (No weekends)
Interview: Microsoft Teams

Position Overview
We’re hiring a Billing & Eligibility Specialist to support healthcare eligibility, enrollment, billing, and claims-related operations. This role focuses on accurately processing and reconciling transactions across claims and vendor systems while ensuring compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.

Job Responsibilities

Process, implement, maintain, and reconcile eligibility/enrollment transactions in claims and related vendor systems
Review enrollment files, resolve errors, and ensure timely, accurate updates
Investigate rejected transactions from external systems/vendors and take corrective action
Support compliance by researching and staying current on regulatory changes impacting eligibility/enrollment and billing
Perform quality checks/audits on enrollment and reconciliation files exchanged with third parties
Respond to inquiries through portals and shared inboxes; route items appropriately for resolution
Provide customer service by phone and electronically regarding eligibility, enrollment status, billing, coordination of benefits, PCP changes, and address updates
Document inquiries and outcomes in the designated workflow/document management tools
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive member and business information

Qualifications

High school diploma (or equivalent)
1+ year experience in eligibility/enrollment processing, claims/healthcare operations, auditing, healthcare data processing, and/or customer service supporting healthcare systems
Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Access)
Typing 35 WPM with 95% accuracy
Strong attention to detail and proofreading skills
Analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities
Professional communication skills and strong time management
