The Opportunity
A well-established and highly respected St. Louis law firm is seeking a Billing & Accounting Specialist to join its administrative team.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a key role alongside a long-tenured team member who will be retiring in the coming months. The successful candidate will have the benefit of hands-on training and knowledge transfer, creating a smooth transition and strong foundation for long-term success.
The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting skills and experience with accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. While legal billing experience is highly desirable, the firm places greater value on accounting knowledge and the ability to understand the financial side of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
Manage attorney billing and client invoicing processes
Process and monitor accounts receivable activities
Handle accounts payable, vendor payments, and expense tracking
Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end financial processes
Maintain accurate financial and billing records
Work directly with attorneys and staff regarding billing matters
Assist with reporting and general accounting functions
Support the continued efficiency of firm financial operations
Qualifications
Prior accounting, bookkeeping, or finance experience required
Strong understanding of accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
Experience in a law firm or professional services environment preferred
Legal billing experience is a strong asset
Experience with billing or accounting software
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and accuracy
Professional communication and client service skills
Preferred Qualifications
Prior legal billing experience
Experience with trust accounting or law firm accounting procedures
Familiarity with legal billing systems (specific software experience is not required)
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $60,000–$70,000
Compensation based on experience and qualifications
Candidates with strong accounting and legal billing backgrounds will be considered at the upper end of the range
