Turn your healthcare billing expertise into immediate community impact with the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas.

At the Visiting Nurse Association of Texas (VNA), our Meals on Wheels program delivers vital nutrition and independence to homebound seniors across North Texas. We are seeking an experienced Biller/Collector to take direct ownership of assigned accounts throughout the entire revenue cycle—from initial billing through final reimbursement.

This is not simply a claim-entry role; you will actively manage collections, track aged accounts, resolve denials, and partner across teams to ensure our mission remains fully funded.

We offer a competitive salary with mileage reimbursement and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and short- and long-term disability coverage. Employees also receive a 401(k) with a 6% company match and two-year vesting, generous PTO with six paid holidays and flexible days, professional development and education reimbursement opportunities, and the support of a mission-driven work environment.

    How You'll Make an Impact:

    • Accurate Billing & Submissions: Verify eligibility, authorizations, units, and HCPCS codes to submit clean electronic claims, billing files, and invoices for assigned payers.
    • Active Collections & Follow-Up: Work assigned accounts receivable monthly with an emphasis on aged accounts, following up with Medicaid managed care plans, government programs, and third-party payers.
    • Denials & Discrepancy Resolution: Research and resolve claim rejections, underpayments, authorization barriers, and appeals.
    • Reconciliation & Documentation: Reconcile billed services, payments, and adjustments, maintaining clear documentation of all collection activity and payer interactions.
    • Cross-Department Support: Collaborate with Intake, Operations, and Accounting to resolve billing barriers, and cross-train to support hospice billing as needed.

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Healthcare Administration, Medical Billing, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
    • Experience: 3–5 years of healthcare billing and collections experience required.
    • Payer Knowledge: Strong accounts receivable background working with Medicaid, managed care organizations, grants, and third-party payers.
    • Systems & Coding: Knowledge of HCPCS codes, modifiers, and electronic claim submission. Experience with TMHP, Availity, Molina, Superior, or MatrixCare is a strong plus.
    • Hospice Billing: Prior hospice billing and collection experience is preferred.
    • Requirements:
      • Ability to successfully pass background check.

    About Company

Established in 1891, Visiting Nurse Association (VNA Home Health) is a nonprofit home health agency. We offer a wide range of in-home services for people in and around Kansas City. Our legacy of more than 125 years of excellence in home health comes from our belief that people not only need someone to care for them, they also need someone to care about them. That’s what we do at VNA, and our patients say it’s one of many things that set us apart.

As the oldest home health agency in Kansas City and the sixth oldest in the United States, we have history and experience patients can trust. We are governed by a volunteer board of directors that includes many of Kansas City’s most influential business and civic leaders. VNA nurses and therapists average more than ten years of patient care experience, with three to five years experience in home health care.

Through our dedication to the health and wellness of this community, we deliver positive clinical outcomes that exceed national averages. We use the latest technology available to meet the changing needs of our community.

What we do for our patients may be complex, but our mission is simple: to bring exceptional health care into the homes of everyone we serve.
