Job Summary We are hiring two full-time Bilingual Medical Assistants for our busy pediatric practice in Newark. Each provider sees about 50 patients a day, so this is a fast-paced role. You will room patients and take vitals, scribe the visit in the electronic health record, and interpret in real time between Spanish-speaking parents and English-speaking doctors. You will also prepare charts before each visit, keep track of tests and lab results, manage supplies, and keep rooms and equipment ready. Newly certified medical assistants are welcome; we train on scribing and our systems. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
Responsibilities
Room patients and take vitals, height, weight and history before the provider visit
Scribe during visits: document history, exam findings and the provider's plan in the electronic health record in real time
Prepare for the patient visit, including pulling charts and notes, as well as setting up medical equipment
Clean instruments and equipment after use
Answer phones and field questions about medical issues, identifying visit needs
Assist nurses and doctors with basic medical care and procedures
Track lab results, call in prescriptions, and handle basic medical office duties
Provide accurate, real-time medical interpretation and translation between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking doctors, nurses, and staff during clinical intakes and examinations
Qualifications
BLS Certification or Certified Medical Assistant desired
Excellent customer service skills
Strong attention to detail
Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) required
Experience with medical interpretation or a medical translation certificate preferred
