Bilingual Lead Machine Setup Technician

LINK Staffing is seeking a skilled and mechanically inclined Bilingual Lead Machine Setup Technician to support a growing manufacturing operation.

This is a new and strategically important position responsible for ensuring production equipment is properly set up and ready to manufacture quality parts safely, efficiently, and consistently.

The Lead Machine Setup Technician will work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, Supervisors, and machine operators across multiple departments. Because this position will provide hands-on guidance, training, and support to a diverse production workforce, candidates must be bilingual in English and Spanish and able to communicate effectively in both languages.

Extensive training will be provided to develop expertise across multiple types of manufacturing equipment. As the setup team expands, this individual will also help train and mentor future Setup Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up production machines according to established procedures, work instructions, and production requirements.
• Follow documented setup sequences to prepare equipment for specific custom and standard parts.
• Perform machine changeovers based on production schedules and priorities.
• Install, verify, and adjust tooling, dies, fixtures, machine settings, and operating parameters.
• Verify materials and specifications according to work orders.
• Conduct test runs and assist with first-piece inspections to ensure parts meet quality requirements.
• Troubleshoot setup-related problems and make necessary machine adjustments.
• Work closely with machine operators during equipment startup and changeovers.
• Communicate setup instructions, safety requirements, and production information in both English and Spanish as needed.
• Minimize machine downtime by completing setups accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate setup records and required documentation.
• Assist with developing and improving standardized machine setup procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, and machine readiness.
• Follow all company safety policies and safe work practices.

Leadership Responsibilities

• Serve as a lead resource for machine setups across multiple manufacturing departments.
• Assist supervisors with prioritizing machine setups and changeovers.
• Train, coach, and mentor Setup Technicians and machine operators as needed.
• Provide clear instructions and hands-on training to English- and Spanish-speaking employees.
• Promote consistency and best practices in machine setup procedures.
• Identify opportunities to reduce setup times, improve efficiency, and minimize production downtime.
• Help establish strong setup standards as the department continues to grow.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.

• Ability to perform physically demanding, hands-on work and stand for extended periods.

What Is a Machine Setup?

A machine setup is the process of following a documented sequence of steps to configure a production machine, including its tooling, dies, fixtures, materials, settings, and operating parameters, so a specific part can be manufactured safely, efficiently, and according to required specifications.

The primary responsibility of the Setup Technician is machine readiness rather than continuous machine operation. Setup personnel may operate equipment for testing, validation, troubleshooting, or training purposes before releasing the machine for production.
