    GENERAL

    DESCRIPTION:

    In

    alignment

    with

    the

    NWRESD's

    mission

    this

    position

    works

    under

    the

    overall

    supervision

    of

    the

    building

    principal,

    with

    direct

    instructions

    provided

    by

    early

    learning

    or

    special

    education

    teachers.

    They

    are

    employed

    to

    carry

    out

    program

    activities

    as

    planned

    and

    scheduled

    by

    licensed

    personnel,

    which

    includes

    implementing

    activities

    related

    to

    the

    student's

    IEP

    or

    IFSP

    in

    individual

    and

    small

    groups.

    The

    position

    monitors

    student

    safety

    and

    behavior

    in

    various

    settings.

    Duties

    can

    vary

    based

    on

    the

    age

    of

    the

    students

    served

    and

    the

    nature

    of

    student(s)

    needs.

    A

    bilingual

    instructional

    assistant

    is

    dened

    as

    one

    who

    is

    uent

    in

    both

    English

    and

    the

    primary

    language

    of

    the

    students

    identied

    as

    English

    language

    learners,

    and

    shall

    demonstrate

    cultural

    competency

    related

    to

    the

    students

    in

    the

    bilingual

    classes

    to

    which

    the

    bilingual

    instructional

    assistant

    is

    assigned.
