Austin Achieve Public Schools is a tuition-free, open-enrollment public charter school preparing Austin youth to attend and excel at top universities.
The Attendance Coordinator is the primary campus point of contact for all matters related to scholar attendance, serving as an expert in attendance policy and requirements. This role focuses on ensuring accurate daily attendance reporting and cultivating relationships with families to ensure scholars are attending school every day. This individual has an impeccable attention to detail and a proactive mentality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the campus expert and primary point of contact for all scholar attendance matters
- Maintains an unwavering commitment to 100% accurate attendance reporting for each daily period, with zero tolerance for errors
- Meticulously verifies, tracks, and audits daily scholar attendance records, immediately resolving any discrepancies to ensure perfect data integrity, including accurate daily grade-level counts accounting for new enrollments and withdrawals
- Ensures timely submission of attendance by teachers for all required periods
- Builds meaningful relationships with families through persistent, same-day phone contact for all scholar absences, demonstrating both empathy and accountability
- Takes ownership of attendance improvement by identifying attendance barriers and finding solutions collaboratively with parents
- Proactively flags scholars with accumulating absences, immediately alerting campus leadership when any individual reaches 5+ consecutive unexcused absences
- Works closely with key campus personnel via the Weekly Attendance Committee meeting, to provide data and to identify scholars of concern
- Completes truancy action steps on a weekly basis, which may include:
- Informally notifying parents (phone/message)
- Formally notifying parents (written)
- Scheduling and convening parent conferences to sign attendance contracts
- Initiate truancy complaint filing upon campus leadership approval
- Processes and documents all attendance excuse notes within 24 hours of receipt
- Implements a consistent daily audit process to guarantee attendance data accuracy
- Creates and maintains all attendance documentation in campus binders per compliance requirements
- Assists teachers with password lock-outs from student information system
- Attends attendance compliance trainings throughout the school year
- Serves daily as coverage for front office reception during lunch breaks
Qualifications:
- Spanish/English bilingual fluency required
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Advanced computer proficiency including Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets
- Experience working in a K-12 school setting is a plus

Physical Demands:
- Sitting for extended periods of time, often up to 8 hours per day
- Standing and walking occasionally throughout the workday
- Reaching, stooping, and bending occasionally to access files or supplies
- Lifting and carrying items up to 25 pounds occasionally
- This job can only be performed in person and is not eligible for remote or off-site work
