Key Responsibilities
The Beverage Captain will be successful when:
- The Department at Hudson's private events are flawlessly executed, with high-quality libations and service throughout the event season.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
DAILY OPERATIONS
- Lead bar set-up to ensure it is executed in a timely manner
- Own product prep in advanced
- Review and understand BEOs
- Assisting with monthly inventory and consumption bar sheets
- Monitor staffing levels
- Lead by example for all bartenders in punctuality, appearance and work quality; including training
- Participate in pre-shift meetings alongside event managers
- Check proper amount of bar products and glassware are pulled per event
- Create a welcoming and hospitable environment for all guests while anticipating their needs
- Demonstrate expert knowledge of specialty, classic and signature cocktails (ingredients, specs, build), wine, beer, and beverage offerings
- Maintain fluency in all menu items and ingredients with the ability to suggest beverage pairings
- Monitor proper steps of service with the team throughout each event
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar and prep areas; putting away product
- Can communicate effectively with staff members and management during service
- Report incidents and areas of opportunity to management
- Additional responsibilities as assigned by leadership
- Support special activations throughout other Hudson related outlets
FINANCIAL IMPACT
- Be a catalyst for continuous improvement
- Monitor overpouring, waste and proper handling of bar products and glassware
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Must have five years of bartending experience, knowledge of techniques and equipment for serving, storing, and handling food and beverage products
- Leadership experienced recommended
- Efficient in describing and serving different types of liquor, cocktails, beer, and wine
- Preferred TIPS Certification or can pass TIPS Class to become certified
