Be the Person Who Helps Someone Find Their Footing

Every educator remembers what it felt like to be new: the questions that seemed too small to ask, the uncertainty of learning a new building, and the relief of finding someone who made time to listen. In Nine Mile Falls, we believe we are each other's best resource. The District is building a pool of certificated staff who are willing to help new educators find their footing, grow with confidence, and feel that they belong. This role is not about having every answer. It is about being present, reflective, and willing to share what you have learned so that another educator - and the students they serve - can thrive. When we support one another, we strengthen every classroom and our district as a whole.

    Terms of Employment and Salary

As outlined by and in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) of Nine Mile Falls Education Association (NMEA) and the Policies and Procedures of Nine Mile Falls School District. CBAs and Salary Schedules can be reviewed from the For Employee page of the Nine Mile Falls School District website at 9mile.org. Nine Mile Falls policies and Procedures can be accessed online at 9mile.org under the Our District page.

Mentor stipend: $300 per mentee for a first- or second-year educator and $200 per mentee for an experienced educator who is new to the District. Stipends are paid in two installments, half in March and half in May, in accordance with Appendix J of the NMEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. Mentors are also paid at the Extended Teaching Responsibilities rate for required attendance at New Hire In-Building Orientation and Early Career Educator professional-development sessions. Placement in the pool does not guarantee a mentor assignment or compensation. Assignments depend on District need, an appropriate match, and available state funding.

    Work Location: District-wide

    Nature and Scope of Job:

When matched with a new educator, the BEST mentor provides consistent, non-evaluative support, coaching feedback, connection to District resources, and a trusted professional relationship. Mentors help new educators reflect on practice, navigate District systems and expectations, and identify support they may need. The District will draw from the mentor pool as needs arise and will make assignments based on factors such as job role, building, grade level, or content area.
