Job Title: BESS Construction Superintendent (Traveling with Per Diem)

Job Description

The Construction BESS Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field construction activities associated with utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects. The role focuses on mechanical and electrical installation, QA/QC oversight, safety compliance, and coordination with EPC contractors. The Superintendent ensures all construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, engineering drawings, codes, standards, and commissioning requirements. This position is based in Colorado and involves serving as the primary field representative for construction execution and quality management, coordinating daily activities among EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee field construction activities for utility-scale BESS projects.
  • Focus on mechanical and electrical installation, QA/QC oversight, and safety compliance.
  • Coordinate EPC contractors and ensure project specifications, codes, and standards are met.
  • Serve as the primary field representative for construction execution and quality management.
  • Provide technical support for project planning, including reviewing plant design criteria, contract documents, and specifications.
  • Support route development and refinement for gen tie projects, conduct field visits, and ensure pre-construction preparation.
  • Monitor and oversee contractor activities and assigned work.
  • Communicate effectively with various subject matter experts, including Engineering & Construction, Environmental Services, Legal, Development, and Land.
  • Travel within the US is expected approximately 25%.

Essential Skills

  • 6 - 10 years of experience supporting technical and financial aspects of construction projects.
  • Experience in contractor oversight.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to perform routing and siting tradeoff decisions in the presence of uncertainty.
  • Ability to identify and evaluate routing risks with input from subject matter experts.
  • Problem-solving skills within highly regulated permitting requirements.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain sight of the larger vision.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with geospatial applications such as Google Earth and/or GIS is preferred.
  • Associate degree or Bachelor"s degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with route refinement using value engineering or other applicable concepts.

Work Environment

The position is based in Colorado and requires travel within the US approximately 25%. The work involves coordinating with EPC contractors, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and project stakeholders throughout all phases of construction. The role demands a strong understanding of engineering and construction criteria, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with a range of subject matter experts.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Juno Beach, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $55.00/hr.
