POSITION: Beginning Teacher Academic Coach
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Professional Staff Development/Instructional Support.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EMPLOYMENT TERM: Minimum 200 days annually, pursuant to WV Code §18-5-45; extended employment terms may be established by KCSBOE.
SALARY: Pursuant to WV Code §18A-4-2, in accordance with Kanawha County Schools Teacher Salary Schedule, commensurate with experience and education level.
EVALUATION: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Superintendent and in accordance with WV State Code §18A-2-12, WV State Board Policy 5310, and KCSBOE Policy Performance Evaluation of School Personnel - Administrative Procedures.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Beginning Teacher Academic Coach (BTAC) directly influences the success and retention of new teachers in the first and second years of their teaching career by supporting them through professional development and coaching/mentoring in the classroom with content, instruction, and classroom management through effective guidance, communication/feedback, and modeling instructional and management strategies. The BTAC works cooperatively with teachers, principals, curriculum specialists, other district and school-based instructional coaches, and district personnel to support the system's educational goals.
GENERAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
An employee working for Kanawha County Schools is expected to comply with all the Kanawha County Schools Policies and Procedures, including maintaining regular attendance and completing all required training. Employees are required to follow all safety rules to maintain a safe workplace.
