Description

The Benefits/Payroll Specialist will support and contribute to the overall success of a high-performing Finance team at the D.C. Everest Area School District. The Finance team is committed to providing high-quality fiscal services through excellence in customer service, integrity, and accountability. The Benefits/Payroll Specialist will serve as a primary resource for employees on benefit programs and as a member of the Payroll team, will work closely with payroll to ensure accurate, timely administration of employee benefits and payroll.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Administers and processes employee benefit programs, including, but not limited to, health, dental, vision, life, disability, accident, FSA, HRA, and HSA plans; serves as a primary contact for employees regarding benefit enrollment, eligibility, plan options, changes, and benefit-related questions.
  • Coordinates new employee benefit enrollment and processes benefit changes related to open enrollment, qualifying life events, status changes, leaves of absence, retirements, and terminations.
  • Coordinates all aspects of employee leaves, including paid time off and FMLA.
  • Audits and reconciles benefits/deductions against vendor invoices, Skyward benefits system, and insurance provider subscriber lists to ensure accurate employee and employer contributions; researches and resolves discrepancies as needed.
  • Coordinates with benefit providers, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and other external partners regarding employee benefits, billing, and eligibility.
  • Assists with processing biweekly payroll to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time.
  • Cross-trains with other members of the Finance and Talent & Culture teams.
  • Assists with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation, benefit reporting, payroll reconciliations, and other required year-end processes.
  • Assists with yearly staff budgeting by auditing and updating employee benefit and deduction amounts in the Skyward staff planning system.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality and security of employee payroll, compensation, and benefit information.
  • Assists with District-required audits and provides documentation related to payroll and employee benefits.
  • Monitors compliance with District policies, benefit plan requirements, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE

  • $26.00 per hour (may be higher depending on qualifications and experience).
  • Paid time off, including 15 paid time off days, 15 vacation days, and 9 holidays (prorated from start date through June 30, 2027).
