Join Amazon"s Global Benefits team and help reshape how employers approach pharmacy benefits. Our team has built the first employer sponsored modular pharmacy benefit structure designed around transparency, flexibility, and members need. In this role, you"ll drive meaningful changes in a highly complex system and build innovative solutions that improve health outcomes as well as the care experience itself. In this role, you'll join others who are leading the charge in shaping employer pharmacy benefit reform. If you want to drive systemic changes while building the future of how pharmacy benefits, this is your chance to make an impact for Amazon and the industry.

You"ll lead the operational management of Amazon"s innovative pharmacy benefit program, working at the intersection of healthcare innovation, member experience, and strategic transformation. In this role, you"ll evaluate key performance measures, optimize program operations, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver pharmacy solutions that prioritize transparency, flexibility, and real member needs.

This position requires extensive expertise in pharmacy benefits management and health plan technology within a complex, matrixed environment. You'll partner with the US Pharmacy Benefit Strategy Leader, vendor partners, Amazon Health Services (AHS), and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver on our pharmacy benefit vision. This role will lead strategic program management of Amazon"s pharmacy benefit program-a role which requires the ability to deliver predictable results through ambiguity, extensive experience in pharmacy benefit management, knowledge of ERISA and its implications on our work, HIPAA regulations, health tech integrations, data analytics, and vendor management. Within Amazon Benefits Experience and Technology, this role has a particular focus on implementing member-centric innovations while managing complex vendor relationships within Amazon"s innovative pharmacy benefit model.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead day-to-day execution and strategic design of our innovative disaggregated pharmacy benefit model, ensuring alignment with our commitment to member experience and program objectives
  • Monitor pharmacy vendor performance and evaluate the effectiveness of pharmacy benefit design improvements, using data-driven insights to inform ongoing optimization
  • Synthesize program data, including member feedback and operational metrics, into actionable recommendations that enhance our pharmacy benefit model and member experience
  • Develop product specifications and requirements for technical teams to build new pharmacy solutions and cross-vendor integrations that support our strategic vision
  • Actively manage benefits operations, benefits technology, pharmacy procurement, finance, communications, contracting, and compliance to support cross-functional initiatives

A day in the life

As a Benefits Manager for our pharmacy plans, you"ll spend your time balancing strategic thinking with hands-on program management. You might start your morning reviewing member feedback and pharmacy vendor performance data to identify opportunities for improvement, then shift into a cross-functional meeting with our healthcare leadership and technology teams to discuss specifications for a new pharmacy integration. Throughout the day, you"ll synthesize complex program data into actionable recommendations, support colleagues across benefits operations, compliance, and finance with your pharmacy expertise, and work through vendor relationships to ensure our innovative pharmacy model continues to deliver value. You"ll also prepare proposals for senior leaders and manage the interdependencies across multiple concurrent initiatives-all while keeping the member experience at the center of your decisions.

About the team

We"re a collaborative group dedicated to building pharmacy benefits that deliver better for people and honor the patient provider relationship. Our team has designed the first employer sponsored modular pharmacy benefit structure centered on transparency, flexibility, and what our members need. We work closely with healthcare leadership, Amazon Health Services, and external partners to execute our strategic vision. Together we drive systemic change in how employers approach pharmacy benefits. When you join us, you"ll be part of a team that values innovation, member-centric thinking, and the kind of complex problem-solving that moves an entire industry forward. We"re excited to welcome someone who can help us continue this work and contribute their own insights to shaping the future of employer pharmacy benefits.

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
