Position Overview: The Benefits & Leave Specialist will lead the administration and continuous improvement of employee benefits programs, while serving as a key resource for employees navigating leave, coverage, and related processes. This role is primarily focused on Benefits Administration & Strategy and Leave of Absence Management. The position partners closely with HR, Payroll, Finance, and external vendors.
Direct Hire | $65,000-$85,000 + Stipend | Onsite - Southwest Metro (Twin Cities)
Lead annual open enrollment and new hire benefits orientations
Maintain relationships with brokers, carriers, and vendors
Analyze plan performance, utilization, and costs; recommend improvements
Reconcile monthly invoices and resolve discrepancies
Support employee education and engagement in benefits offerings
Administer and track leave programs including FMLA, PFML, STD, LTD, and ADA
Serve as primary point of contact for employees navigating leave
Partner with managers, payroll, and third-party administrators to ensure a smooth and compliant process
Support return-to-work coordination
Assist with payroll review, adjustments, and benefit-related deductions
Support onboarding and employee changes within HRIS systems
Partner with HR on employee experience initiatives and special projects
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Support reporting requirements such as ACA, Form 5500, and 401(k) filings
Maintain accurate records and documentation related to benefits and leave
Contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment
Assist with employee engagement activities and internal initiatives
Qualifications
~3+ years of benefits administration experience
Strong knowledge of leave programs (FMLA, PFML, disability, etc.)
Understanding of benefits compliance and reporting requirements
Experience with HRIS systems and payroll coordination
Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience
Compensation & Details
Base salary: $65,000 - $85,000 (depending on experience)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, standard business hours
Location: Fully onsite in the west metro
