High Point University is currently seeking a full-time Benefits Coordinator. The Benefits Coordinator supports the administration of employee benefits programs and works closely with the Sr. Benefits Administrator to ensure efficient day-to-day operations. This role serves as a key point of contact for employees across the University, including faculty and staff, as well as a growing network of dental clinics and optometry practices.
This position focuses on benefits coordination, customer service, and administrative support, ensuring employees receive timely and accurate assistance with their benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Bachelors degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
Experience and Training
- 02 years of experience in Human Resources, benefits, payroll, healthcare administration, or administrative support preferred
- Experience supporting higher education, multi-site, or clinic-based environments is a plus
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (such as Workday) preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Ability:
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with various employee populations (faculty, staff, and clinical teams)
- Ability to build relationships across multiple locations and departments
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growing environment
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Basic problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to learn and apply benefits policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Team-oriented with the ability to work collaboratively with HR, Payroll, vendors, and clinical leadership
Essential Functions:
- Partners with the Sr. Benefits Administrator to support the day-to-day administration of employee benefits programs
- Serves as a first point of contact for benefits-related questions from faculty, staff, and clinical employees; escalate complex issues as needed
- Provides benefits support to multiple locations, including dental clinics and optometry practices, ensuring consistent communication and service
- Assists with new hire onboarding and benefits enrollment, including preparation of materials and employee guidance
- Supports open enrollment activities, including employee communications, system updates, and enrollment tracking
- Process and tracks benefits changes, including new hires, qualifying life events, and terminations
- Maintains accurate benefits data in HR systems and ensure data integrity across multiple employee groups
- Assists with benefits invoice reconciliation and identify discrepancies for review
- Coordinates with Payroll, HR, and external vendors to resolve routine benefits issues
- Supports leave of absence tracking and documentation in partnership with HR and Payroll
- Assists in preparing and distributing benefits communications tailored to both campus and clinical employees
- Maintains organized records of plan documents and employee benefits information
- Runs standard reports and assist with basic data tracking, audits, and reporting needs
- Provides administrative and project support to the Benefits team as needed
Accountability:
- Works under the guidance of the Sr. Benefits Administrator to support the administration of employee benefits programs
- Ensures accuracy, timeliness, and consistency in servicing a varied and geographically distributed workforce
- Maintains confidentiality and compliance with internal policies and procedures
