Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 8 months
  • Pay Rate: $30.00 $33.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: 8:00 8:30 AM 5:00 PM; 9:00 9:30 AM 5:30 PM also acceptable

Job Summary

The Benefits Administrator, Health & Wellbeing, is responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations of the health & welfare plans and wellness initiatives. This role requires ongoing interaction with our benefits outsourcing vendor and insurance carriers to ensure accurate delivery of our health & welfare benefit programs. The scope of accountability includes medical, dental, vision, life, paid family and medical leave, voluntary benefits, FSA, HSA, EAP plans and wellness programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with carriers to support health & welfare operations
  • Review and respond to routine HR inquiries and cases in Workday, following established procedures and guidelines; triage and escalate complex or non-standard issues to appropriate team members for resolution
  • Support the employee annual enrollment process, including testing, quality checks and proofreading
  • Support activities related to government forms and filings (e.g., Form 5500, PCORI) and support compliance-related tasks such as COBRA and ACA reporting requirements
  • Review and support employee benefits and communications materials including maintaining and updating internal website
  • Serve as a point of contact for Human Resources colleagues on benefit-related inquiries
  • Process expense reports, calculate fees and premiums, and prepare invoice payments for benefit plans
  • Compile census and benefits reports for internal and external business partners
  • Assist in coordinating wellness and total rewards activities and programs (e.g., blood drives, biometric screenings, flu shots, webinars)
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for death claims, following established procedures to guide beneficiaries through the claims process; collaborate with team members to provide comprehensive support, including retirement-related aspects of claims
  • Provide support for retirement operations as needed
  • Complete other duties as assigned

  • Decent foundational knowledge of Health & Welfare benefits
  • Experience supporting employees directly and partnering with HR stakeholders
  • Invoicing experience and understanding of payment processes/systems
  • Excel proficiency required: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs
  • Ability to understand data flow, reporting, and processes
  • Empathetic and compassionate
  • Comfortable assisting employees who may be in emotional or sensitive situations
  • Highly organized
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Preferred Skills

  • Experience working in Employee Benefits and Wellness programs
  • Workday experience preferred; other HRIS experience is helpful

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

Required Experience

  • 2 5 years of experience in a similar Benefits Administration, Benefits Coordinator, Benefits Specialist, or HR support role

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • 2 days on-site per week; no specific onsite days required candidate may choose
  • Root cause analysis and issue resolution
  • Understanding how data flows through systems and processes
  • Supporting employees with benefit-related questions and escalations
  • Working across HR partners and various stakeholders
  • Becoming familiar with plan changes and open enrollment updates; supporting employees with questions and directing them to appropriate resources
  • Level of open enrollment involvement will depend on experience and bandwidth; team will provide support and not leave the contractor to figure things out alone
