Working closely with administrators, teachers, families, and student services staff, you will help develop proactive interventions, model evidence-based practices, and respond effectively to behavioral and emotional needs.

Position Summary

The Behavior Support Paraprofesssional provides specialized behavioral and social-emotional support to students whose needs interfere with their ability to fully participate in school. This position partners with educators and families to implement proactive interventions, promote positive behavior, respond to crises, and foster safe, inclusive learning environments where all students can succeed.

Position Responsibilities

Student Support

• Provide individualized behavioral and social-emotional support to students experiencing challenging behaviors or emotional distress.
• Utilize trauma-informed practices and evidence-based de-escalation techniques to support student success.

Classroom Support

• Collaborate with teachers to strengthen classroom management and student engagement.
• Model evidence-based behavioral strategies.
• Support classroom interventions while promoting safe, positive, and inclusive learning environments.
• Coordinate intervention efforts with other student support personnel.

Collaboration & Consultation

• Partner with administrators, student services staff, instructional coaches, teachers, and families to develop comprehensive support plans.
• Facilitate collaborative problem-solving and effective communication among team members.

Crisis Intervention

• Respond to behavioral crises using approved intervention strategies.
• Collaborate with school crisis teams to implement individualized response plans.
• Support students in safely returning to instruction following crisis situations.

Data Collection & Reporting

• Collect and maintain data related to student behavior and intervention effectiveness.
• Monitor student progress toward behavioral goals.
• Provide regular updates and recommendations to school administrators and support teams.
• Professional Learning
• Maintain current knowledge of best practices in behavioral interventions
• Participate in ongoing professional development.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Assignment Details

• Reports to Director of Student Services
• Coordinates with District Administrators, Building Principals, Student Services Staff, Classroom Teachers, and Families
• $20-$25/Hour based on qualifications
