Job Summary and Qualifications

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Provision of Care:

  • Establishes effective rapport with patients and acts as a positive role model for the development of socialization and other skills as needed.
  • Coordinates and participates in group activities and encourages appropriate patient interactions in both individual and group settings.
  • Provides input during team discussions and meetings to assist in developing patient treatment plans.
  • Provides protection and control to ensure patient safety, including maintaining an ongoing awareness of patient’s whereabouts, escorting patients to activities and other procedures and participating in restraining combative patients as needed.
  • Observes patients to assess progress on a daily basis. Identifies and proactively communicates any changes in patient condition, results, behavior, observations, or complaints and reports to RN/Charge RN.
  • Takes and accurately records vital signs, height, weight and other tests as needed, in a timely manner and records all variations from normal and reports to RN/Charge RN. Maintains therapeutic environment and assists patients with personal hygiene needs, and activities of daily living.
  • Accurately documents the administration of care in the patient record in a timely manner.
  • Participates in rounding and proactively responds to patient needs to improve patient outcomes and positively impact the overall patient experience.
  • Contributes to a culture of patient centered care by ensuring a quiet healing environment.
  • Acknowledges patients appropriately. Introduces self and others. Explains purpose of visit/care and communicates anticipated duration to enhance the patient experience.
  • Anticipates and responds quickly to patient needs as assigned within scope of practice.
  • Fosters positive first impression by ensuring all work areas are organized, clean and project a professional appearance.
  • Promotes a professional image and acts as an ambassador inside and outside the organization. Takes ownership and demonstrates service excellence principles in all interactions with the patient, physician and others. Ensures the patient’s safety, dignity and privacy at all times.
  • Accurately scans and records equipment and supplies to ensure appropriate charges and inventory control.
  • Optimizes use of supplies, equipment and services, ensuring a high level of clinical care at the lowest cost. Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
  • Fosters teamwork and contributes to achievement of team goals. Willingly shares knowledge/expertise and assists co-workers. Acts as a resource for co-workers as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and adherence to the Code of Conduct.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, patient conferences and in-service presentations as appropriate. Completes annual competency training in a timely manner.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Other-Fingerprint Required
