The Fairfax Falls Church Community Services board has an exciting opportunity to work with multidisciplinary team at the Fairfax Detoxification Center, in a community-based residential setting.
This position provides integrated services addressing substance use and mental health disorders, as well as co-occurring primary care needs. Programming includes medical and clinically managed detoxification, case management, and referral services.
The nursing staff is responsible for clinical, medical, and primary care issues, including serving as a liaison to community resource pharmacies and community medical providers. This role provides clinical collaboration with physicians/medical staff and the mental health treatment team regarding medical support services to clients.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provides nursing assessment, outreach, support services, crisis intervention, education, COVID-19 testing, and life skills training to Fairfax County citizens who are seriously mentally ill or actively detoxing from substances and/or have co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
- Conducts and gathers relevant research information on medical services and educating program staff.
- Provides accurate and timely written documentation on clients and the program.
- Visually observes and assesses the physical and mental status of clients; monitors vital signs and behaviors.
- Administers medications, including PO medications and injections.
- Documents medication administration accurately in the electronic health records (EHR).
