    Overview:

    Department: Behavioral Health Unit 

    Shifts Available: Nights

    Employment Type: Part-time    

    Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00 pm to 7:00 am

    Location: Saint John Hospital – Leavenworth, KS

As a Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you'll provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients with acute mental health needs in a dynamic inpatient behavioral health setting. Working alongside Registered Nurses and an interdisciplinary care team, you'll play a key role in promoting patient safety, stabilization, and recovery.

     

    From medication administration and patient monitoring to behavioral observation, crisis intervention, and care coordination, you'll help create a safe, therapeutic environment where patients can heal and thrive.     Responsibilities:

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to): 

    • Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute mental and behavioral health needs in an inpatient setting.
    • Observe, monitor, and document patient behavior, mental status, and safety risks.
    • Administer medications as ordered and monitor side effects.
    • Assist with crisis intervention and de‑escalation to promote unit safety.
    • Support admissions, discharges, and transfers, including patient education.
    • Collaborate with RNs, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team.
    • Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation per policy and regulations
    Qualifications:

    Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

    • Current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician.
    • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
    • IV certification within 90 days of hire
