TriState health is launching a brand-new School Based Health Center in partnership with the Clarkston School District, creating an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Counselor to provide essential behavioral health services and make a direct impact on the lives of students.

Job Summary:
Assesses and treats behavioral health needs of patients. Assists primary care provider in the school-based health center with recognizing and treating mental health and psychosocial needs, assists with de-escalation and crisis intervention as needed. Works collaboratively with students, families, and school staff to provide needed support for students to attain their healthiest self.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment & Diagnosis: Evaluating mental health, identifying triggers, and diagnosing conditions using diagnostic manuals.
- Treatment Planning: Collaborating with patients to develop, review, and modify personalized treatment goals.
- Psychotherapy: Conducting individual, family, or group therapy sessions using evidence-based approaches.
- Crisis Intervention: Assessing and managing immediate risks, such as self-harm or suicide attempts.
- Record Keeping: Documenting patient progress, psychosocial histories, and required treatment notes while strictly maintaining confidentiality.
- Care Coordination: Referring clients to psychiatrists, support groups, or community resources as needed.
- Documentation: Documenting in the EMR according to TSH policy and procedures.
Education and Training:
- Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work or Mental Health Counselor.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current LCSW or Counseling License in Washington State.
- Current American Heart Association’s BLS/CPR certification card on hire or within orientation period.
Experience:
- Previous behavioral health counseling experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Crisis Intervention
- Ability to perform basic vitals (blood pressure, pulse, etc.)
- Experience with standardized screening tools (PHQ-2, GAD-7, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy, and ability to relate to youth.
