    About the Role
    The Behavior Support Specialist is responsible for conducting functional behavioral assessments and developing, implementing, and monitoring behavior support plans for individuals experiencing behavioral challenges. This role focuses on utilizing positive behavioral strategies, collaborating with participants and their support teams, and ensuring effective training and compliance with all regulatory and organizational standards.
    Responsibilities
    • Completes functional assessments and develops strategies to support individuals experiencing behavioral difficulties
    • Develops, implements, and reviews Behavior Support Plans and Restrictive Procedures Plans using positive practices
    • Ensures training is provided to staff, family members, and participants on behavior support plan implementation
    • Collects, monitors, and evaluates behavioral data to assess progress and outcomes
    • Observes individuals in various settings to inform behavior support plan development
    • Collaborates with participants, families, and team members to create effective, non-restrictive support strategies
    • Conducts comprehensive functional assessments for behaviors including aggression, self-injury, and law-offending behavior
    • Develops and maintains individualized behavior support plans based on assessment findings
    • Conducts training sessions for staff, families, and participants on plan implementation
    • Implements behavior support strategies and interventions as outlined in plans
    • Monitors and revises plans as necessary to ensure effectiveness
    • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop positive interventions for specific behavioral concerns
    • Completes documentation including data collection, progress reports, and annual planning materials in compliance with regulations
    • Assists with internal and external audits and follows up on audit requirements
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    Required Qualifications
    • Master’s Degree in Human Services or a closely related field; or Bachelor’s Degree under supervision of a Master’s Level Clinician
    • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with a good driving record
    • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite and ability to learn systems such as HCSIS, PROMISe, and Avatar EHR
    • Experience in behavioral assessment, behavior planning, and data collection
    • Ability to work collaboratively with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary teams
     
    PreferredQualifications

    • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Education
    • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification
    • Pennsylvania Licensed Behavior Specialist (LBS) preferred
