    JOB TITLE: BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST GROUP: Teamsters III - Specialist LEVEL: 22 FLSA STATUS: Nonexempt WORKDAYS PER FISCAL YEAR: 180 HOLIDAYS: 11 or 12 dependent on school start date SUMMARY: This position works in partnership with classroom teachers across the district to support students demonstrating significant behavior challenges in the classroom. This position engages in classroom observations to identify systems in place and collects data on student behavior in order to engage in the Functional Behavioral Assessment process for the purpose of developing a Behavior Intervention Plan to support the student in the general education classroom. This person will utilize adopted systems to monitor progress on the Behavior Plan and will collaboratively partner with the classroom teacher, other school -based staff, and the family to support the student.

    • Observes, collects data and analyzes classroom systems.
    • Develops classroom systems to support positive behavior (e.g. visual supports).
    • Develops individual program data systems and assists in analyzing, reporting and using results to make instructional decisions.
    • Models behavior intervention techniques for staff.
    • Develops a plan for the teacher to provide individual intervention related to a variety of behavioral issues (social skills, anger management, impulse control, stress management, etc.) for specific students.
    • Supports students individually or in small groups in a variety of learning activities.
    • Operates a computer using educational software programs for student instruction and data management. Other Functions
