TITLE: Behavior Interventionist/Specialist (10+1 Contract)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be certified by the State of Delaware Department of Education in at least one of the following areas: Social Worker (LBSW, LMSW, LCSW, SSW), Behavior Analysis (BCBA), Licensed Mental Health Therapist, Psychologist.
- Ability to coach, model, and build the knowledge and skills of teachers in the areas of social-emotional behaviors and their influences.
- Ability to engage students in developing the knowledge, coping strategies, and behavioral skills needed for success through supportive and therapeutic practices.
- Excellent organizational and management skills.
- Excellent skills in collecting, analyzing, and using data to develop strategies and plans that provide behavioral supports to all students.
- Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent technology application skills.
REPORTS TO: Special Programs Supervisor
LOCATION: District wide
JOB GOAL: Increase appropriate behaviors within the instructional setting by providing a proactive approach to behavior intervention.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works in collaboration with administrators, school psychologist, PBS Team and IST Teams to develop and implement effective programming for students with intense behavior needs.
- Assists with crisis intervention and in accessing higher levels of mental health support.
- Build capacity for utilization of appropriate behavior interventions among district staff and administration.
- Provides support and collaboration with school families in need of services outside of school.
- Collaborates with teachers and staff to develop plans to support students dealing with trauma.
- Participates as a member of school MTSS Teams to review, assess, and monitor data collected.
- Advises MTSS teams of Tier II and III intervention strategies.
- Completes Functional Behavior Assessments and Positive Behavior Intervention Plans for students who have been referred by their IEP team.
- Works with teachers in a modified capacity including observing, coaching, modeling, and assisting with implementation of behavior plans.
- Act as a liaison with building administrators and staff to ensure implementation of a high quality and effective programming with fidelity.
- Advises the implementation of FBAs and BIPs for students to ensure fidelity to the prescribed program.
- Participates in IEP meetings when necessary.
- Works with building administrators to determine needs for expanding the continuum of services at all grade levels for behavioral concerns.
- Other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Required to attend school meetings, programs and activities outside of the instructional day per the LFEA agreement.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten-month annual contract with an additional 19 days (10+1) of service during summer months as approved by the direct supervisor.
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
The following are conditions of employment for new employees:
- Satisfactory criminal background check prior to being placed on payroll.
- Satisfactory child protection registry check.
- Mandatory direct deposit of pay
- Documentation of Mantoux skin test results for entrance to school system.
