Position Function:

We anticipate filling up to four (4) positions from this job posting.

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will provide assessment, treatment development (i.e., program development), monitor progress and provide supervision of clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols all based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in clinic, school, the home, and community settings.

Salary Grade: 15

Department Profile:

The Mississippi Institute on Disabilities (MIoD) is housed within the College of Education and represents an interdisciplinary hub focused on innovative and convergent research, service, and training to support individuals with disabilities. Affiliated units of MIoD include the T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability (TKMC); the Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic (ADDC); the A.C.C.E.S.S. and Specialized College Services program; affiliate programs in the College of Education and the Career Horizons Project; among others.

Among other services, the T.K.. Martin Center and Autism and Developmental Disabilities Clinic provide psychological and applied behavior analysis assessments and therapy to community clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned to this position of a BCBA. The absence of specific statements of duties does not exclude those tasks from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment of the position.

• Conduct appropriate assessments to develop treatment plans for skill development and behavior reduction protocols.
• Analyze available data to help determine function of problem behaviors.
• Define all target behaviors in objective and measurable terms and design an appropriate data collection system to measure the target behaviors.
• Integrate appropriate setting event, antecedent, teaching, and consequences strategies to reduce problem behavior and increase alternative replacement behaviors.
• Ensure the behavior support plan addresses the function of the problem behavior.
• Train and supervise staff (i.e., RBT, teachers, teacher assistants, interns) and/or family members directly (i.e., in person, with opportunities for questions, discussion, etc.) on the implementation of the behavior support plan and provide ongoing supervision and training for RBTs.
• Monitor the individual's behavior data and provide timely, descriptive progress notes.
• Conduct treatment fidelity assessments to ensure proper implementation of the behavior support plan.
• Supervision of RBTs per guidelines outlined by BACB and the Mississippi Autism Board.
• Review of behavior data and progress notes. Signing of RBT progress notes and supervision logs.
• Effectively communicate with parents, caregivers, and educators regarding client/student progress.
• Utilize safe & appropriate handing procedures when working with clients. Receive training to ensure all procedures are ethical, legal, and maximize the safety of the client.
• Maintain client confidentiality and HIPAA protections.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
• Collaborate with treatment team including client, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, and co-workers.
• Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required trainings.
• Provide consultation support to under the Mississippi Institute on Disabilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Human Services, or related major.

2. Must possess an active Board Certified Behavior Analyst certification.

3. Must include at least one (1) year experience completing comprehensive functional assessments and behavior support plans, with two (2) years' experience serving individuals with lifelong disabilities (can include intensive practicum experiences).

4. Licensed Behavior Analyst or license eligible in the state of Mississippi.

The successful candidate will be responsible for completing and maintaining all required certifications and trainings once employed including, but not limited to: CPR (within 90 days of employment), HIPAA, Background Checks, RBT trainings and other company in-services and trainings as directed by employment supervisor.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Licensed Behavior Analyst in the state of Mississippi.

2. Experience with intensive behavioral supports needed for serving individuals with lifelong disabilities (e.g., autism and intellectual disability) who demonstrate significant challenging behaviors.

3. Experience working in a preschool or early childhood care setting.

4. Demonstrated knowledge or experience with early language learning from a behavioral framework.

5. Supervision experience of RBTs or clinical trainees.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Ability to provide supervision and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly for RBTs and practicum students.
• Effective time management skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks at one time.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members
• Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of Ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
• Commitment to maintain client confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA laws.
• Commitment to ongoing training and development as it relates to clinical skills,

professional development, ethics, and technology, and training in order to

perform job responsibilities to required standard.

• Ability to develop, interpret and implement clinical protocols and written.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to lift and carry clients with adaptive equipment.
• Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting,

crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.

• Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be willing and able to hold/transport and utilize quick body movements as indicated in the Behavior Intervention Plan in the course of working with children with challenging behavior.
• Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device

functions for data collection.

• Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school,

and community placements.

• Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
• Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
