This business development role is focused on identifying, securing, and expanding new client relationships across the pharmaceutical and biotechnology landscape in SFO / Northern California. The successful candidate will take over an existing book of business and focus on new & exisiting account growth by establishing trusted executive-level partnerships.

This client is a publicly-traded full-service CRO/CDMO looking to expand its footprint in the US. In the US, the group found YoY growth with a mature business development team. The company has a multi-billion-dollar presence with operations across the US, UK, and Asia.
Description
- Develop and execute business development strategies to secure new client relationships.
- Open and cultivate 20+ new accounts annually, converting opportunities into long-term strategic partnerships.
- Build trusted relationships with senior decision-makers, including CEOs, CSOs, R&D leaders, and outsourcing executives.
- Identify opportunities across drug discovery, development, and manufacturing services.
- Lead commercial discussions, presentations, and contract negotiations.
- Partner closely with scientific, operational, and leadership teams to align client needs with service capabilities.
- Conduct market analysis and evaluate growth opportunities within the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors.
- Represent the organization at industry conferences, networking events, and client meetings.
- Manage a consultative sales process from prospect identification through account expansion.
- Contribute to ambitious revenue and profitability growth objectives.
Profile
- BS or MS in Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- MBA preferred.
- Strong understanding of small molecule drug discovery, development, and commercialization.
- 5-10 years of experience within biotechnology, biopharma, CRO, CMO, or CDMO environments.
- Experience supporting or selling to biotechnology companies, pharmaceutical organizations, or outsourced development partners.
- Consulting experience serving life sciences clients is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success developing new business opportunities and managing strategic customer relationships.
- Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen.
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments.
- Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills and cultural awareness.
- Self-motivated, coachable, results-oriented, and highly driven.
