Job Description:

POSITION: Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Office of Special Education and Pupil Services

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Assistant Superintendent of Special Education and Pupil Services

POSITION SUMMARY: The Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is responsible for providing comprehensive behavior analysis services to students with diverse needs. The BCBA will work collaboratively with teachers, staff, parents, and other professionals to develop, implement, and monitor evidence-based behavior intervention plans that promote positive student outcomes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments (FBAs) to identify the function of students challenging behaviors and develop comprehensive behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and oversee implementation
  • Provide direct and indirect behavior analysis services, including individual and group therapy, to support students in achieving their behavioral goals
  • Train and coach teachers, staff, and parents on the implementation of behavior intervention plans and positive behavior support strategies
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to monitor the effectiveness of behavior intervention plans and make data-driven decisions to modify interventions as needed
  • Participate in Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and other educational team meetings to collaborate on student support and ensure the implementation of behavior plans and complete IEP progress reporting
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest evidence-based practices in applied behavior analysis and provide ongoing professional development to school staff
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all student assessments, interventions, and progress, in compliance with district and state regulations
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students with behavioral needs, promoting a positive and inclusive school environment
  • Collaborate with other related service providers, such as school psychologists, social workers, and speech-language pathologists, to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, and EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, or a related field
  • Board Certification as a Behavior Analyst (BCBA) from the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • State of Connecticut Department of Public Health Board-Certified Behavior Analyst License
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a BCBA in an educational or clinical setting
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Proficient in data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Thorough knowledge of evidence-based behavior analysis principles and interventions
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and families
  • Experience working in an urban school district or similar diverse educational setting
  • Multilingual skills (Spanish/English), preferred
  • Additional certifications or training in specific behavior analysis techniques or interventions

CERTIFICATION and LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
  • State of Connecticut Department of Public Health Board-Certified Behavior Analyst License

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This role is a 10-month position, coinciding with the school year. Salary range for this position is $80,000-$90,000 and is negotiable based on education and experience.
