Introduction
As a member of the Battery Modeling team, you will be responsible for thermal modeling for all products. You will be fully integrated with the Product Design team from the earliest stages, analyzing and informing the design of cutting-edge products. You will also work with cross-functional teams within the company to provide design guidance in terms of thermal impact of the product features.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- MS/PhD with 3 years of industry experience
- Mechanical engineering background with strong foundation in CFD and thermal modeling
- Expert level skillset related to Ansys electronic desktop (AEDT) and Icepak in AEDT
- Proficiency in Python or other scripting languages
- Prior work experience at the client or in the client's industry

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- MS/PhD with 5 years of relevant experience
- Familiarity in Cadence Allegro and electronics layout design
- Familiarity with li-ion cells and battery packs
- Familiarity with NX, Comsol
- Experience in electronics cooling
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Develop state-of-the-art thermal as well as multi-physics finite volume (FE) models of cell, pack, and company sub-systems
- Provide design and trade-off guidance to the Product Design teams through early-stage simulations
- Generate models/capability to convert power map into thermal outputs
- Perform advanced thermal/CFD simulations to evaluate and enhance understanding of the various boundary conditions
- Use best-in-class tools and solvers to generate necessary simulation models and results
- Work with test and reliability labs to develop physical test methods
- Collaborate with system teams on developing detailed sub-models for assembly-level simulations
- Develop optimized workflows and reusable templates for regularly required thermal simulations
- Develop and implement thermal modeling best practices
- Work with CAE vendors to drive functionality improvements
- Explore new analysis types and solutions, including topological optimization
- Extract Reduced Order Models (ROM) from CFD simulations to speed up exploratory studies
