    ABOUT

    The EMT Basic Skills Laboratory Assistant supports hands-on clinical and scenario-based EMT Basic labs in alignment with NREMT and NHTSA standards. This role helps develop competent, compassionate, entry-level EMT-Basics by ensuring clinical realism, lab safety, and achievement of program outcomes.

    This is a part-time position and can work up to 18 hours per week.

    WHAT YOU WILL DO

    Primary Responsibilities

    • Oversee and lead assigned demonstrations to students during EMT basic skills labs under lead instructor guidance.
    • Communicate learning outcomes for each skill session.
    • Motivate students with a professional, responsive, and cordial attitude to perform at their highest level.
    • Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and mentorship in skill performance.
    • Maintaining an atmosphere of dignity and propriety conducive to learning in the classroom.
    • Assist in setup, breakdown, and inventory of simulation labs- ensuring readiness and cleanliness.
    • Reinforce professional behavior, clinical standards, and safety protocols.
    • Promote a positive learning environment aligned with Tyler Junior College values.

    COMPETENCIES

    • Proficiency in EMT Basic clinical skills, including but not limited to: CPR, AED, oxygen administration, BVM, airway adjuncts, splinting, bleeding control, basic pharmacology

    • Familiarity with EMS simulation equipment is a plus

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Individual Contributor

    Work Environment: The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to machinery noise and regular duties required outside of standard business hours.

    Physical Demands: Sitting, walking, standing, typing, pushing, kneeling, lifting up to 50 lbs

    Travel Required: No

    If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver's license and an acceptable driving record

    WHO YOU ARE

    Required Education

    Certificate of completion as an Emergency Medical Technician

    Required Experience

    Minimum 6 months of current, active field experience as EMT- B

    Required Credentials/Licensures

    Certificate of proficiency from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician - Basic

    Preferred Credentials/Licensures

    NREMT EMT-B

    Preferred Experience

    1+ years of field experience as NREMT-B

    Additional Job-Specific Requirements

    Must be willing to work flexible hours (may include some evening hours)

    RETIREMENT

    Part-Time Retirement

    Part-time employees are required to participate in the part-time retirement fund. The retirement fund is invested in a group fixed annuity contract with Ohio National Life Insurance Company. The plan will provide you and your beneficiary with fully vested cash settlement or income benefits after termination of employment for any reason.
