Job Summary
Barista will serve staff, patients, guests, and customers in a timely, efficient, courteous manner. Barista will prepare and sell various coffee drinks, blended drinks, smoothies, baked goods, quick service food items, and various retail merchandise, while maintaining cleanliness of foodservice area and equipment. Position will interplay with Café and Catering functions of the Department. Assist Guests with way finding and information about the facility.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Sets up workstations and maintains par levels of foods and/or supplies in assigned areas; orders and/or restocks items in accordance with established routines; rotates food stocks; checks expiration dates. Has knowledge and some on the job training of pulling shots and following drink recipes.
Prepares foods and nourishments in the correct quantities, following established, procedures, and food quality standards. Assures that food presentation continually meets standards.
Accurately processes cash register transactions. Support in Café and Catered Events as needed, areas of preparation, service, and sanitation. Cleans and sanitizes dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses and cooking utensils. Cleans and sanitizes designated equipment and kitchen areas and disposes of waste materials. Assists in the care and maintenance of equipment. Stores food in designated areas, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and food spoilage. Monitors and records food and equipment temperatures according to defined procedures and reports any discrepancies to the supervisor. Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Consistently demonstrates SPMC values and provides all patients/customers with an excellent service experience. Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Current Washington State Food Worker Card
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Ability to learn and follow established policies and procedures. Ability to read and understand written and verbal instructions. Ability to communicate effectively and to provide excellent customer service. Ability to operate common tools and kitchen equipment, including specialized equipment needed for espresso kiosk. Basic mathematics skills; ability to accurately process cash register transitions, handle cash and make appropriate change.
