    Job Description:

    The Banquet Server is responsible for delivering exceptional food and beverage service during banquet events. This position plays a key role in creating memorable guest experiences by ensuring impeccable table settings, courteous service, and smooth event flow. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, and a strong sense of hospitality at all times.

    Pay Range:

    $16 - $18 an Hour Based on Experience

      Responsibilities:

      • Uphold and reinforce the service standards and vision of The Palace at Somerset Park
      • Build positive relationships with coworkers and maintain a courteous demeanor toward guests and management
      • Maintain a clean and organized service station prior to guest arrival
      • Follow proper setup procedures for buffets and banquets, including placement of all necessary service ware, linens, and decorative elements
      • Inspect and polish all silverware, glassware, and china before service and inspects all linen for stains and holes.  Removes and replaces unacceptable service ware prior to setting
      • Place printed menus, favors, journals, flowers, or guest-provided materials as requested
      • Adhere to table service techniques such as “French” or “Russian” service and able to carry 10 to 12 dinners on a tray above the shoulder or 3 to 4 plates by arm service
      • Provide proper wine, champagne, and beverage service throughout the event
      • Handle food items with care and attention to presentation
      • Assist with the setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and room arrangements for event turns or resets
      • Attend pre-meal briefings and review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and station assignments
      • Greet guests warmly, introduce yourself by name, and express a genuine desire to be of service
      • Address and escalate guest requests or concerns to supervisors immediately
      • Follow all safety guidelines, hygiene protocols, and house rules
      • Participate in post-event breakdown, including linen removal and chair stacking upon management direction
      • Maintain uniform and grooming standards as outlined by company policy
      • Call the banquet department every Friday to confirm the final schedule for the upcoming week
      • Arrive on time for all shifts, ready to work and in proper uniform
      • Perform additional duties as assigned by management

      Physical Demands:

      • Frequently required to stand and walk for long periods
      • Use hands to handle trays, utensils, dishes, and other service items
      • Talk and hear in a noisy banquet environment
      • Occasionally required to taste or smell to verify food and beverage quality
      • May need to sit, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
      • Must be able to lift and carry trays with multiple plates (10–12) above the shoulder
