This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 4–10 years of substantive bankruptcy, restructuring, creditors’ rights, or insolvency experience who wants meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and the opportunity to work closely with experienced partners on complex matters without sacrificing the collegiality and visibility of a mid-sized platform.

The group represents a diverse mix of businesses, financial institutions, lenders, fiduciaries, trustees, debtors, creditors, and other stakeholders in bankruptcy proceedings, distressed situations, workouts, and related commercial disputes. The underlying practice includes significant work in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and regularly handles matters involving Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 proceedings, distressed credit situations, enforcement actions, and restructuring-related litigation.

Anticipated Base Salary: $145,000–$185,000+, depending on experience

Compensation will ultimately depend on seniority, relevant bankruptcy and restructuring experience, credentials, and overall fit. The broader compensation package may include performance-based bonus and business-origination incentives.

Candidates should be comfortable maintaining a regular presence in the firm's New York-area office, with additional flexibility dependent upon the needs of the practice and individual matters.

Job Details

What You'll Be Doing
Represent debtors, creditors, trustees, lenders, financial institutions, and other stakeholders in bankruptcy and restructuring matters
Handle matters arising under Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 of the Bankruptcy Code
Draft and argue motions, objections, pleadings, and other filings in bankruptcy court
Advise clients regarding distressed situations, workouts, restructurings, and insolvency-related issues
Handle creditor-side matters involving loan defaults, enforcement, guarantees, collection efforts, and related remedies
Participate in bankruptcy-related litigation, contested matters, and adversary proceedings
Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda addressing complex bankruptcy, restructuring, and commercial issues
Assist with negotiations among debtors, creditors, lenders, trustees, and other interested parties
Manage matters with increasing independence while working directly with senior attorneys and clients
Depending on experience, take ownership of significant portions of matters and assist in mentoring more junior attorneys
Ideal Background
4–10 years of relevant attorney experience
Meaningful experience in bankruptcy, corporate restructuring, creditors’ rights, insolvency, financial services litigation, or a closely related practice
Prior Chapter 11 experience is strongly preferred
Experience representing debtors, trustees, lenders, secured or unsecured creditors, committees, or other parties in interest is highly desirable
Experience with contested matters and bankruptcy-related litigation is a plus
Strong legal research, writing, drafting, and analytical abilities
Comfortable communicating directly with clients and taking substantive ownership of matters
Ability to manage multiple sophisticated matters in a collaborative environment
J.D. from an accredited law school
Admission to the New York Bar required or ability to become admitted promptly
