    Position Overview
    Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bankruptcy Paralegal to join its busy bankruptcy team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Chapter 13 consumer bankruptcy cases and be comfortable managing matters from initial client intake through plan confirmation and case completion. The Bankruptcy Paralegal will work closely with attorneys, clients, trustees, creditors, and the Bankruptcy Court to ensure cases are prepared accurately, deadlines are met, and clients receive timely and professional assistance throughout the bankruptcy process.
    Responsibilities
    • Manage Chapter 13 bankruptcy files from initial intake through confirmation and completion.
    • Gather, review, and organize client financial information and supporting documentation.
    • Assist attorneys with preparation and filing of bankruptcy petitions, schedules, statements, Chapter 13 plans, amendments, and related pleadings.
    • Review client information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
    • Communicate with clients regarding required documents, case status, deadlines, and next steps.
    • Monitor bankruptcy case dockets and important deadlines.
    • Assist with preparation for Chapter 13 confirmation hearings and other court appearances.
    • Communicate professionally with Chapter 13 trustees, creditors, opposing counsel, and court personnel as appropriate.
    • Assist with responding to trustee requests, objections, notices, and other case-related issues.
    • Prepare and process amendments, modifications, motions, and other filings as directed by attorneys.
    • Track plan payments and case developments and assist with post-confirmation matters.
    • Maintain accurate electronic and physical case files.
    • Enter and maintain case information in the firm's case-management system.
    • Ensure compliance with firm procedures, court rules, filing requirements, and applicable deadlines.
    • Provide general administrative and paralegal support to attorneys as needed.
    Requirements
    • Prior experience as a bankruptcy paralegal, preferably with a strong Chapter 13 background.
    • New Jersey bankruptcy experience.
    • Familiarity with the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, Bankruptcy Court procedures, and Chapter 13 processes.
    • Experience preparing or assisting with bankruptcy petitions, schedules, plans, amendments, and related filings.
    • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines simultaneously.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Professional and compassionate client-service skills.
    • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with attorneys and other staff.
    • Familiarity with electronic court filing systems and bankruptcy docket research.
    • Spanish language skills a plus.
