This position is regularly scheduled Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid meal break.
To support major maintenance projects and operations during extreme weather conditions, occasional early morning shifts are required. These shifts are 4:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid meal break, and typically occur approximately 10% of the work year

The City of Casper Solid Waste Facility is home to one of the regions most important pieces of infrastructure. Every day, our baler processes thousands of tons of recyclable materials, helping serve our community efficiently and sustainably. Were looking for an experienced mechanic who enjoys solving complex mechanical problems, fabricating solutions, and keeping essential equipment operating safely and reliably.
If you have a strong background in industrial maintenance, heavy equipment, manufacturing, mining, oil and gas, aggregates, or similar industries, we encourage you to apply. Prior baler experience is helpful, but not required. We are looking for someone with exceptional mechanical aptitude, welding and fabrication skills, and a passion for troubleshooting complex systems.

Incumbent is responsible for performing a variety of skilled maintenance, repair and service of baler machinery and equipment.
REPORTING STRUCTURE: Receives direction from the Solid Waste Superintendent or higher level management.
Typical Class Essential Duties
Performs highly skilled mechanical repairs, work, and preventative maintenance on the baler at the Solid Waste facility.
Inspects, diagnoses, and locates mechanical difficulties on the baler and construction equipment.
Fabricates and repairs metal parts using welding equipment and Plasma table.
Maintains accurate records and monitors the status of work orders.
Coordinates the purchasing of baler parts, purchasing, and repairs.
Monitors equipment and supply inventories; schedules equipment for repairs; purchases equipment and supplies as needed; maintains equipment as necessary.
Operates equipment and tools including balers, forklifts, dump trucks, frontend loaders, skid steers, jack hammers, drills, pumps, welder, power and mechanical hand tools, precision tools, basic electrical tools, pump alignment/vibration tools and air compressors.
Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor.

Positions in this class typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly. To lift, carry, push, and pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
Incumbents will be exposed to unsanitary environments, waste, fumes/dusts, odors, loud machinery noise, harmful chemicals, wet conditions/extreme temperatures, and electrical hazards. Work may require the use of personal protective equipment including hard hats, eye protection, hearing protectors, gloves, safety vests, and safety shoes. OSHA mandated preventative vaccinations and periodic examinations for work exposures are provided.
Incumbents may be required to drive to or operate equipment at work sites to perform work.
