Maricel s Kitchen is hiring a part-time baker or pastry cook to help grow our Filipino and Asian bakery program in East Brunswick, New Jersey.
We welcome bakers and pastry cooks at different experience levels, including recent culinary and pastry school graduates. You must have some hands-on baking experience, but you do not need to know our recipes.
We can teach you how we make our breads, cakes, and pastries. We need someone with good hands, discipline, enthusiasm, and the desire to learn.
This is a part-time position for 2 to 3 days per week, with the chance for more hours as our bakery program grows.
What You Will Do
Prepare and bake breads, cakes, pastries, and brunch items
Follow recipes, production lists, and instructions from our Sous Chef and Pastry Chef
Keep each batch consistent in taste, size, and appearance
Complete early-morning production before brunch service
Keep your station, equipment, and kitchen clean and organized
Help with prep, packaging, and other bakery duties as needed

Bakers, pastry cooks, pastry assistants, and culinary graduates
Candidates with bakery, restaurant, catering, internship, or culinary school experience
Experienced bakers who want steady part-time work
Newer bakers who are willing to learn and improve
People who are reliable, focused, clean, and comfortable working early mornings
Requirements
Some hands-on baking or pastry experience is required
You must be legally authorized to work in the United States
You must be able to follow recipes and repeat the same process each week
You must arrive on time and work well as part of a kitchen team
Filipino or Asian baking experience is helpful, but it is not required
Experience with pandesal, ensaymada, cakes, breads, or laminated pastries is a plus. We will teach you our recipes and production methods.
Schedule
Part time, 2 to 3 days per week
Early-morning shifts
Possible schedules include Friday through Sunday or Thursday through Saturday
The schedule may grow as the bakery program expands
