    Summary

    Seeking an experienced Baker to prepare high-quality bakery products and desserts in a healthcare food service environment. This role is responsible for producing baked goods, custards, puddings, and other desserts according to standardized recipes, ensuring quality, consistency, and food safety standards. The Baker maintains a clean and sanitary bake shop, assists with inventory and supply procurement, develops new dessert offerings, and serves as a backup cafeteria cook on third shift as needed.

    Location: Women & Babies Hospital, 690 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA

    Key Responsibilities

    • Prepare bakery products, custards, junkets, puddings, and desserts in accordance with standardized recipes.
    • Perform pre-production preparation including measuring ingredients, gathering supplies, and setting up workstations.
    • Ensure 100% compliance with recipes to maintain product quality and consistency.
    • Evaluate products for proper taste, texture, and presentation.
    • Develop and introduce new dessert offerings.
    • Maintain bake shop equipment and work areas in a clean, organized, and sanitary condition.
    • Procure supplies from storeroom and designated storage areas.
    • Follow all HACCP food safety and sanitation procedures.
    • Serve as a backup cafeteria cook during third-shift operations when necessary.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED required.
    • Minimum of 2 years of high-volume/commercial baking experience.
    • Experience operating bakery production equipment.
    • Minimum of 2 years of nutritional knowledge.
    • Specialized training in baking and cake decorating.
    • 2-4 years of food service production experience, including:
      • Food preparation and production
      • Equipment operation and maintenance
      • Food handling and sanitation procedures
