Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced Backhoe Operator to join a construction team in Cleveland, OK. This position is responsible for safely operating a backhoe and other heavy equipment to perform excavation, trenching, grading, and material handling tasks while maintaining a safe and productive job site.
The ideal candidate has previous heavy equipment experience, a strong commitment to safety, and the ability to work efficiently in an outdoor construction environment.
Required Experience & Skills
Previous backhoe operating experience preferred
Valid driver's license required
Ability to pass a clean background check
Strong understanding of heavy equipment safety and operating procedures
Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team
Strong work ethic and commitment to workplace safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Safely operate a backhoe and related heavy equipment on construction projects
Perform excavation, trenching, grading, and material handling operations
Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs or mechanical issues
Follow project specifications and job site instructions to complete assigned work accurately
Maintain awareness of underground utilities, surrounding personnel, and job site hazards
Follow all OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and equipment operating procedures
Assist with general construction and site preparation duties as needed
Keep equipment clean and properly maintained throughout the project
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment
Knowledge of excavation, grading, and utility installation projects
Familiarity with routine equipment maintenance and inspections
Experience working on commercial or industrial construction sites
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Ability to climb on and off heavy equipment multiple times throughout the day
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Must wear required PPE and comply with all job site safety requirements
Work Environment
Outdoor construction and excavation job sites
Exposure to heavy equipment, uneven terrain, dust, noise, and changing weather conditions
Safety-focused work environment emphasizing teamwork and productivity
