The Opportunity

Chick-fil-A the Village District in Raleigh, NC is seeking an experienced, high-capacity Back of House Director to lead our kitchen operation and help build the next level of our restaurant.This position extends far beyond running shifts.As our Back of House Director, you will serve as the primary leader of the kitchen operation with ownership of people, leadership development, operational performance, food quality and safety, training, labor, productivity, food cost, inventory, waste, and overall BOH execution.We're looking for someone who can lead today's operation while building the people and systems needed for tomorrow.The right leader will be equally comfortable coaching a developing leader, analyzing operational results, improving a broken process, holding others accountable, and stepping into the operation alongside the team when needed.Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to build something stronger—not simply maintain what already exists.

What You'll Own

As Back of House Director, you will:

  • Lead the overall performance and execution of the Back of House operation across all dayparts.
  • Coach, develop, and hold accountable BOH leaders and Team Members.
  • Build a strong leadership pipeline by identifying potential and intentionally developing future leaders.
  • Establish sustainable systems and clear ownership so the operation does not depend on one person to succeed.
  • Drive measurable improvement in food quality, food safety, Speed of Service, productivity, labor, food cost, inventory, and waste.
  • Maintain strong production, forecasting, prep, thawing, positioning, and deployment systems.
  • Oversee BOH scheduling and ensure staffing aligns with sales, productivity goals, training needs, and operational demand.
  • Build strong training and positional-development systems that create depth throughout the kitchen.
  • Maintain an organized, clean, inspection-ready operation with a strong culture of food safety.
  • Analyze performance data and operational trends to identify root causes and turn opportunities into action.
  • Partner closely with the Training Director, Front of House Director, and other organizational leaders to accomplish restaurant-wide goals.
  • Develop leaders who can independently own responsibilities and maintain strong performance without requiring your constant presence.

  • Is highly organized and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrates integrity, humility, sound judgment, and a willingness to receive feedback.
  • Leads from the front and is willing to work alongside the team when the business requires it.
  • Wants to continue growing as a restaurant and organizational leader.

Experience

Previous Chick-fil-A leadership experience is strongly preferred.

We are especially interested in connecting with candidates who have served as a Director, Assistant Director, Operations Director, Kitchen/BOH Director, Senior Manager, or similar leadership role within Chick-fil-A.

Strong leaders from other high-volume restaurant or hospitality organizations are also encouraged to apply.

Ideal candidates will have experience with several of the following:

  • Leading and developing restaurant leaders and teams
  • High-volume kitchen or restaurant operations
  • Labor and productivity management
  • Food cost, inventory, ordering, and waste management
  • Food safety and quality systems
  • Training and leadership development
  • Operational planning, forecasting, and continuous improvement

Schedule & Leadership Presence

This is a full-time leadership position requiring flexibility based on the needs of the business. The Back of House Director should expect to maintain a meaningful leadership presence across varying dayparts, including peak periods, opening and closing operations, Fridays, Saturdays, and other high-volume business periods.

This role intentionally combines hands-on operational leadership with leadership development, administrative responsibility, and system improvement.
