Back-End Software Engineer

Introduction

Join our dynamic team where you will be responsible for designing, building, and operating high-throughput backend systems. These systems ingest, process, and serve large volumes of telematics data from connected vehicle fleets, powering fleet intelligence products for commercial and enterprise customers.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Expertise in designing, deploying, and managing workloads on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, IAM, and VPC networking.
• Strong experience in Big Data technologies, including Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, or Dataflow for designing and optimizing data pipelines.
• Experience in building, training, and deploying machine learning models or rule-based expert systems with tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Vertex AI.
• Proficiency in designing, building, securing, and documenting RESTful or GraphQL APIs.
• Advanced SQL query writing in BigQuery, with experience in managing datasets and integrating with BI tools for analytics.
• 7 years in IT with 5 years in software development, including practical experience in two coding languages or advanced practice in one.
• Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Broader GCP ecosystem knowledge, including Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, GKE (Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with Kotlin, Java, Python, or equivalent JVM/backend languages.
• Familiarity with frameworks like Spring Boot, gRPC, and REST API design.
• Experience with databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis, Bigtable, and messaging systems like Kafka or Pub/Sub.
• Knowledge of infrastructure tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable, high-performance backend services and APIs that process and expose telematics data at fleet scale.
• Build and maintain real-time and batch data pipelines that ingest high-volume vehicle event streams into data warehouses and operational stores.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, low-latency services.
