DESCRIPTION

West Los Angeles College (WLAC) is accepting applications for 0.50 faculty hourly time opportunity (C-Basis, maximum of 17.5 hours per week) for Phase 1 of WLAC's Climate and Environmental Equity Across Disciplines (CEEAD) Program.

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) has established the CEEAD at WLAC, a first-of-its-kind, forward-looking resource that promotes climate change education across the California Community Colleges, operating with the foundational understanding that at its core, climate change is a global issue of equity and social justice. The Center builds clear educational pathways that lead to appropriate certificates, degrees, and employment opportunities while preparing underrepresented students to return to their communities as leaders. By expanding educational partnerships and professional development opportunities for faculty, in addition to opportunities for students such as training programs, paid work-based learning, and internships within the equity, environmental justice, and green jobs sectors, the Center fulfills its broader legislative mandate to serve as a comprehensive instructional resource for the community at large.

One way in which the Climate Center is fulfilling its mandate (per AB 1913) is through a partnership with the California Community Colleges Chancellor''s Office (CCCCO) for the development of a program called CEEAD, which stands for Climate and Environmental Equity Across Disciplines.
