Position Description:

CGI is seeking a skilled AWS DevOps Engineer with strong experience in cloud automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and AWS platform operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer who thrives in building secure, scalable, and reliable cloud environments while enabling faster and more consistent application delivery.

You will work on automating cloud infrastructure, supporting deployment pipelines, improving operational reliability, and collaborating with application, architecture, security, and data engineering teams in AWS environments.

This role can be performed from Lafayette, LA or Bloomfield, CT in a hybrid model.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

The AWS DevOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, automating, deploying, and supporting AWS cloud infrastructure and DevOps processes. The role requires strong hands-on experience with AWS services, CI/CD pipeline automation, Infrastructure as Code, cloud monitoring, security best practices, and production support.

The role requires hands-on configuration expertise, strong understanding of deployment lifecycle management, infrastructure automation, release processes, and the ability to support secure and reliable cloud-based environments.

Key Responsibilities

DevOps Automation and CI/CD

. Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for application and infrastructure deployments

. Automate build, test, deployment, and release processes

. Support pipeline tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline, AWS CodeBuild, or similar tools

. Implement deployment strategies including blue/green, rolling, and automated rollback approaches

. Integrate code quality, security scanning, and automated testing into pipelines

. Troubleshoot pipeline failures and deployment issues

AWS Infrastructure and Cloud Operations

. Design, provision, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using DevOps best practices

. Support AWS services including, but not limited to:

o Amazon EC2

o Amazon S3

o IAM

o VPC

o AWS Lambda

o Amazon CloudWatch

o AWS CloudTrail

o Amazon ECS/EKS

o AWS CodePipeline/CodeBuild/CodeDeploy

o AWS Secrets Manager / Parameter Store

. Configure networking, security groups, IAM roles, policies, and access controls

. Support scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant AWS environments

. Implement cloud cost optimization and resource utilization improvements

. Support environment provisioning, configuration, and release readiness

Infrastructure as Code

. Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, AWS CDK, or similar tools

. Create reusable modules, templates, and automation scripts

. Manage infrastructure versioning, state management, and environment consistency

. Automate provisioning of compute, storage, networking, IAM, and monitoring resources

. Ensure infrastructure deployments follow security and governance standards

Containers and Deployment Platforms

. Build and support containerized workloads using Docker

. Support container orchestration platforms such as Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS

. Manage container images using Amazon ECR or similar registries

. Automate container build, scan, publish, and deployment processes

. Support Kubernetes manifests, Helm charts, or related deployment configurations as applicable

Monitoring, Logging, and Reliability

. Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, X-Ray, or related tools

. Build operational dashboards and alerts for application and infrastructure health

. Support incident response, root cause analysis, and production issue resolution

. Improve system reliability, availability, and performance

. Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery automation where applicable

Security and Governance

. Implement secure DevOps practices across pipelines and infrastructure

. Manage IAM roles, permissions, secrets, and access controls

. Support vulnerability scanning and remediation processes

. Ensure compliance with cloud security standards and organizational policies

. Collaborate with security teams to implement secure deployment and operational controls

Collaboration and Documentation

. Work closely with development, architecture, security, QA, and operations teams

. Participate in deployment planning, code reviews, and technical design discussions

. Document DevOps processes, infrastructure designs, deployment procedures, and runbooks

. Proactively identify automation opportunities and operational improvements

. Support Agile delivery practices and cross-functional team collaboration

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

. 7+ years of experience in IT, DevOps, cloud engineering, infrastructure, or software delivery

. 5+ years of hands-on experience working in AWS cloud environments

. Strong experience designing, building, and supporting CI/CD pipelines

. Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK

. Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, ECS, EKS, and related services

. Experience with Git-based source control and branching strategies

. Experience with scripting or automation using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages

. Experience supporting application deployments in cloud environments

. Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, security groups, and access controls

. Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and production troubleshooting

. Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

Desired Qualifications

. Experience with containerization using Docker

. Experience with Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, or Kubernetes

. Experience with AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or GitHub Actions

. Experience implementing DevSecOps practices and security scanning tools

. Experience with secrets management using AWS Secrets Manager or Parameter Store

. Familiarity with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles

. Experience supporting blue/green, rolling, or canary deployments

. Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible

. Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments

. AWS certification such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, or AWS SysOps Administrator

Expectations

. Build reliable automation for infrastructure provisioning and application deployment

. Ensure system reliability, observability, and performance optimization

. Maintain clear documentation, runbooks, and deployment procedures

. Demonstrate ownership and accountability across build, release, deployment, and operational support activities

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 - $156,700.00.
